How do I get a grant?

Applicants must meet the following requirements in order to be considered for a grant:

  1. Properties must be located within the boundaries of the Moraga Orinda Fire Protection District (MOFD)

  2. There must be a minimum of five participating residential properties

  3. Grant recipients must pledge to maintain the properties five years

additional criteria that we will use to evaluate your grant request:

  1. The more, the merrier - Larger groups of participating properties will go further in reducing the wildfire danger

  2. Including a neighbor who needs help removing hazardous fuels (physical, mental or financial hardship)

  3. Having an organizational structure in place - If you are in an established homeowner’s/neighborhood association or an active Firewise community it will make the process run much smoother

Round 1 funding requests are currently paused (effective 1/31/25). You are welcome to submit an application request, however, it will not be reviewed until the next round of funding begins. Please visit our resources page to learn about other financial assistance in our area.
